Domain
registration.A domain name is an easy-to-remember alias for a numeric Internet Protocol (IP) address, it comprises a prefix e.g. 'wholesale4' & then a suffix or TLD such as '.com'. Domains can be registered & renewed in one-year increments, maximum registration period is ten years. The domain name system (DNS) consists of a directory of all domains registered to companies & persons using the internet. Nameservers around the world must be notified when a new domain name is registered or a website location changes to a new IP address. A newly registered domain & hosting account can be used immediately, files can be uploaded to the server. However the site won't be viewable by domain until after internet propagation i.e. 24-96 hours. The universal database Shared Registration System prevents a domain that you've registered from being acquired by anybody else for a given period. The whois (searchable public database) expiration date shows the current contract period for a domain registration, this can vary from one to ten years. If a registrant fails to pay renewal fees their domain is subject to deactivation and eventual deletion from the system. |
